A Message at the Beginning of the Fast of the Nativity
15-11-2020

Parish Priest

Beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord,

  1. Today, Sunday, November 15, begins the Fast of the Nativity or the Fast of Christmas.

Monday, November 16, 8:30 a.m. - The Akathist of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Matthew, 9:30 a.m. – Divine Liturgy in honor of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Matthew, the Protector of our Church. On this occasion I thank all those who helped us and help us to pay the church mortgage, especially in this difficult period, in which we are all together.

  1. Circle of prayer during the Nativity Fast

Starting on Monday, November 16, we want to restart the Circle of Prayer, reading the Psalms every day. All of you who want to join the prayer, please write me a message at [email protected] with the mention "I want to be part of the Prayer Circle". Tomorrow evening you will receive a table with the catechisms (catismele) that everyone must read.

The Psalter is the best known and most read of the canonical books of the Old Testament. Saint Basil the Great, referring to the use of the Psalms, said: "The psalm is the peace of the soul, the giver of peace, for it calms stormy and enveloping thoughts, a haven against demons."

Therefore, every Christian must resort to this balm for the soul, especially in the most difficult moments of life, in times of trials, temptations, diseases and anxiety.

  1. The end-of-year meeting of the Ladies' Committee

The end-of-year meeting of the Ladies' Committee will take place on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at 12:30, immediately after the Divine Liturgy, in the community hall of the church. For ladies who for blessed reasons cannot be present in person, we will try to connect via Zoom. Details for the connection will be sent soon.

I wish you all a blessed Fast and I urge you with all my love, to confess and, if necessary, to take the Communion in the first two weeks of this fast, because we do not know from one day to the next what restrictions will come.

With love in Christ the Lord,

Priest Grigorie Tapuc
